COVID UPDATES FOR THIS MONDAY DECEMBER 7TH

The health and safety of our students and faculty is our top priority. This communication is to notify you that starting today December 6th a new California Stay At Home order has been put into effect closing several businesses for in person interaction. Luckily, we are still able to conduct our business outdoors and allow our dancers to continue to take classes and safety is still our top priority!

Starting tomorrow, Monday December 7th all students attending Thrive will be required to wear a mask at all times (including during classes).

Please note that our Faculty has and will continue to wear masks at all times and they will also be actively looking out for each child's health and wellbeing during classes. We allow students to take water breaks and recovery breaks after dancing and when needed. Also all students can request to take a break if/when needed.

We are VERY proud of our Thrive community thus far at how Covid scares have been handled in our community. Dancers and families who have experienced any sickness have promptly alerted us.  All students/families have gotten tested or seen their doctor and all families thus far have reported negative Covid testing.

We appreciate your diligence in keeping our students, teachers and families safe and we hope that we can all continue to work together to keep our environment safe and healthy.

In order to make sure to stay on track with health and wellness we listed our current Covid Policy and some frequently asked questions below. Please take a moment to read through so you have all of the up to date information.

THRIVE DANCE CENTER COVID PROTOCOL

We have had very specific and so far effective Covid protocol in place since we opened outdoors in September. We wanted to reiterate these guidelines so that we can continue to keep Thrive safe and healthy for all of our dancers, faculty, staff and all of our families at home.

We have been and we will continue to follow the guidelines from the Ventura County Public Health Department, the CDC and our local Covid Compliance Representative assigned to our business.

  • All dancers, faculty and staff are required to participate in daily screenings upon arrival.

  • All dancers, faculty and staff will be required to wear a mask while on Thrive Dance Center premises at all times

  • All classroom spaces will be cleaned and sanitized in between classes.

  • Only 1 person at a time is allowed in our restrooms and restrooms are sanitized twice per hour. The restrooms are equipped with foot pedals on the entry doors so the door handles do not need to be touched.

  • We do our best to keep our dancers socially distanced, 6ft a part at all times and have limited class sizes in order to accommodate distance in class.

  • We are a touchless environment. Teachers are not allowed to come into physical contact with students and students are not allowed to come into physical contact with each other.

WHAT IF SOMEONE FEELS SICK?

If someone feels sick on our campus (students or teachers) they should report it to the desk staff and they will be sent home immediately. The person with symptoms should promptly be tested for Covid-19 and report back to the studio their results. The student is not allowed to return to the Thrive campus until they test negative for Covid-19.
If someone feels sick at home they should not come to class and they should be tested for Covid-19. Students must have a negative Covid test prior to returning to the Thrive Campus.

WHAT IF SOMEONE ACQUIRES COVID-19?

If someone from our Thrive family acquires Covid-19 we will notify the affected classes and identified close contacts of the individual. A close contact is defined as a person who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.
While we are prohibited by law to share specifically who may have tested positive, if your child has been in close contact with an infected individual you will be notified.

THANK YOU THRIVE VILLAGE!

Thank you Thrive Village for helping to keep our environment safe and healthy. A HUGE THANK YOU to our students who are constantly working hard to follow all of the rules and who are being so good about reporting when they aren't feeling well. We are so proud of you!

Thank you Thrivers. We will get through this!

Sincerely,

Ahjalia Hall & Jennifer Maples

November 15, 2020

We are reaching out with a few updates!

We are thrilled to be back on our beautiful new outdoor dance floors, in person with our students!  We can't thank you, our community and our extended community enough for the rapid support we received in order to rebuild so quickly!

TENTS ARE ON THE WAY!

Exciting news!  We have ordered two very large, very strong 40' x 60' Frame Tents to cover our outdoor dance spaces.  This $32,000+ purchase takes every bit of our GoFundMe Donations but will provide a shelter from the elements that should stand strong in the face of winds.  The tents are 'Twin Tube' (meaning the poles are twice as thick as your average frame tent) and the poles are made from anodized aluminum.  We will be able to set up lighting and 'sides' to create classrooms areas.  It was difficult to find and secure something so large this quickly since businesses across the country are looking for strong durable weather resistant tents. We are so lucky to have found a company that will make them and send them quickly! The Tents are set to arrive in early December!

NEW OUTDOOR SPRUNG FLOORS

The new outdoor floors feel great to the dancers and we are proud to offer sprung floors (shock absorbent) in our Outdoor Space.   In the evenings we are running into issues with condensation on the Marley dance floor surface and we are working on solutions to remedy or at least improve this issue.  The faculty and staff are watching out for the students and will instruct them accordingly.  We are confident this issue will improve once the tents are in place.

WEATHER

This week's Cold Snap definitely presented some challenges.  It has been chilly up here.  We are happy to see that next week's temperatures are much warmer, but we are still outside.  Please be sure your dancers are wearing long sleeves, pants and have warm layers that they can put on.  Socks, warm leggings/pants, leg warmers, hoodies, jackets, hats, gloves are all acceptable.  Again, we do look forward to the shelter & warmth that our tents will provide but in the meantime we want our dancers to be comfortable throughout their class.

SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION DURING PICK UP AND DROP OFF

Please proceed slowly and with caution at Drop Off and Pick Up.  With the time change, it is darker earlier and we need to keep our dancers safe.  We are constantly working on ways to improve pick up and drop off, but we need your help parents.  Please be patient and help us to keep all of the dancers SAFE. If a family is dropping off and you are behind them, please give them time to let their dancer out and allow them to safely walk to the check in table. We know everyone is in a hurry, but during Drop Off and Pick Up safety is our main priority.

THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

As a reminder we will be closed November 23 - 28 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  We hope everyone enjoys time with loved ones and that in these strange times, we can be grateful for what we have with our family, friends and community.  We are grateful for our Thrive Community!

Warmly,

November 5, 2020

We are excited to announce that our Outdoor Dance Complex is back!  This week, we have been working hard to construct the dance floors and we are proud to say, they will be ready to go this coming Monday!

In Person Classes can begin again this Monday November 9th!

Friday and Saturday classes will remain virtual as we finish construction and prepare for rain on Saturday.

The outdoor dance floors are sprung floors (shock absorbent) with a Marley dance surface and they are anchored into the concrete. We are excited to have our awesome students come dance on them!  Thank you to all of the parent and student volunteers who have come to help the last few days.  Many helped by cleaning the Marley floor surface salvaged from the storm.  Others helped by dropping off snacks and water.  Several came to construct the new floors.  It was an amazing effort!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your energy, labor and support!

We are still working towards purchasing 2 very large frame tents to cover our beautiful new outdoor dance complex.  Large tents are difficult to come by these days and very costly, but we are hopeful and optimistic that we will find them and be able to attain them somehow.

The rebuilding of the Outdoor Dance Complex required determination and perseverance. We could not do it alone.  We were lifted, supported and inspired by our Thrive Community!  Together, we are doing it!

HOW CAN YOU CONTINUE TO HELP?

We are still hoping to acquire one or 2 large and costly industrial tents to cover our outdoor space. In order to help us to reach our goal GoFundMe suggests asking everyone to share the link as much as possible. If you haven’t already and you feel comfortable please do share our link via email, on your social media or with anyone who you think might be interested in helping to support the arts, our small business and of course our awesome dancers all which have been truly devastated on this rollercoaster called Covid.

We look forward to seeing everyone back at the studio beginning Monday November 9th.

THANK YOU!!!

We are so pleased to announce that we will be rebuilding our Outdoor Dance Complex!

Thanks to an overwhelming response from our customers, community, family and friends, our Go Fund Me page has been able to raise over $27,000 in just 1 week.  We are grateful and humbled by the outpour of support that we have received.  The GoFundMe donations will help us recover from the extensive damage we experienced last Monday and it gives us enough to get started rebuilding our outdoor complex.

Losing our beautiful space to the terrible winds last Monday was a devastating blow, but we are determined to survive and thrive!

Thrive Dance Center

August 4, 2020

It has been a tough fews months for us as we work hard to navigate the ever changing environment regarding Covid-19. At the base of all of our decisions has been the safety of our dancers and their families that they go home to. We have sincerely appreciated all of the love and support we've received from our dance families during this wild ride.

Several families have reached out wondering when and how we will be able to open our business going forward and we wanted to share a few things hopefully to put minds at ease.  As a business we have strict guidelines we must follow in order to open and operate and all businesses have a categorization. All dance studios are categorized as Fitness Centers (not Day Camps or Child Care) and therefore we have had to follow the same openings and closing protocol as gyms. We opened briefly in July for private lessons and small classes, but then things were shut down again and we had to head back to the drawing board.  While the studio facility is completely prepared to open for small inside classes, like gyms, at the moment we are limited to outdoor physical activity.  We are monitoring regulations daily and have a direct contact assigned to us from the health department.

While the doors of Thrive may have been closed for the past several months, please know that we have been working hard day in and day out to continue to provide programs whether virtually, in-person or outside.

Over the past few weeks we have been excited to move forward with our Dance Concert schedule and the production of our Dance Concert and today we are very excited to reach out to you with exciting announcements regarding Fall Classes, Registration, Dance Company and More!

Thrive Dance Center is not just a building but it's our passion and our dream. Our students are not just dancers they are our dance family. Our Thrive families mean so much to us and now more than ever we realize the impact dance has on all of our lives, students, parents and teachers alike. Please know that we will not stop until we are all back together again safe, happy, smiling and dancing!

Get ready because over the next 2 weeks we will be releasing lots of information regarding our upcoming 2020-21 dance season.

We appreciate each and every one of you and from the bottom of our hearts and we can't wait to see you again this September.

With Gratitude,

DANCE CONCERT PLAN B

Stage set up and filming will take place either in the studio or in a larger local venue.

The Dance Concert would be live streamed on Sunday August 30th for all of our dancers and their families to enjoy. Even family from afar could enjoy this cool virtual performance experience and for the first time ever our dancers would be able to “be in the audience” during the dance concert!

HOW WILL DANCERS LEARN THEIR RECITAL ROUTINES?

Small Commitment Big Reward!

Student will receive 4 Pre-Recorded Recital Prep Choreography Videos where they can learn their recital choreography at their own pace. They will receive 1 video per week during the month of July through their online portal. They can watch the video once or watch it repeatedly to practice as much as they'd like. The choreography will be delivered by their regular class teacher!

This will allow our families that have plans over the Summer to still be able to participate in the show. Even if your schedule does not allow you to commit to weekly classes in July and August you can still be in the show!

We will be offering 2 weeks of Live Recital Prep Classes during the month of August leading up to the performance. These classes could be Live on Zoom or Live in the studio depending on what is allowed at the time. This will allow our dancers to rehearse with their teacher, ask questions in real time and prepare for the stage.  If a student is absent due to a family vacation or prior commitment, videos will be available.

How much will Recital Prep Classes cost?

Recital Prep Classes are $60 per dance.

Fee Includes: 4 pre recorded instructional videos (delivered via Portal in July) and 2 live rehearsals with their teacher in August during the weeks of August 10th-23rd.

WHEN WILL DANCERS RECEIVE THEIR COSTUMES?

We plan to distribute costumes towards the end of July and beginning of August. While the costume companies are closed at the moment, we have received many costumes and are planning on the rest arriving prior to performances.  We will have an organized pick up process that will make it easy to pick up and sign out your costume.

DOES MY DANCER HAVE TO TAKE ADDITIONAL SUMMER CLASSES IN ORDER TO BE IN THE SHOW?

Students participating in the Dance Concert are NOT REQUIRED to take Virtual Thrive Classes or Summer Classes, however continued training in our Summer technique and choreography classes is recommended.

Students participating in the Dance Concert ARE REQUIRED to register for the PERFORMANCE PREP CLASSES which include 4 pre-recorded videos and 2 live rehearsals in August.

*We will be flexible with absences and conflicts throughout the summer months.  Our main goal is to provide a performance opportunity to the students and have all of our dancers participate in a culmination of the year shared with friends family and community.

HOW DO YOU LET US KNOW THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE?

We will be reaching out this week to find out if you will be participating in these performances.  In June, registration for Performance Prep Classes will open.  You will sign up for the dances that you will be participating in.

We are heartbroken to not have our Dance Concert in June as planned.  However, We are excited and 100% committed to honoring the performers in their end of year events.  As you can imagine, we are working hard to create multiple options and contingency plans.

HOW ARE WE PREPPING THE STUDIO FOR OUR RETURN?

Best safety practices.

We are already putting plans in place to create a safe and healthy environment once we are allowed back in the studio. We are equipped with Medical Grade Thermometers, Medical Grade Disinfectant and we are ready to adhere to the guidelines regarding the number of people who are allowed to gather.

We anticipate that we will not be using our lobby or student changing rooms and we are very excited that because of the size of our facility we have 4 entrances that can be used to allow students to come and go without gathering in large numbers.

When we are permitted to open the studio to the public we will make that announcement and will of course be abiding by all protocols and adhere to guidelines as set forth by the State and County.  We continuously monitor the situation and look forward to being back in the building in a clean and safe environment.

It has been a difficult time, but we have felt your support and kindness along the way.  Thank you for your messages, well wishes, gifts, and love!  We sincerely hope to be back in the studio sooner than later, but we will continue to work hard and tirelessly on behalf of our students, our faculty and our community no matter what our circumstances.  We are determined and filled with excitement for what the future brings.

We hope you and your families are safe and healthy.

All of our Love and Appreciation,

Jennifer & Ahja

March 2020

HOW DO I MAKE UP FOR MISSED CLASSES IN MARCH?

We have noted all missed attendance for the month of March.  We have noted all of the make up classes that each dancers is due and everyone will have unlimited time to use make up classes for the rest of the season and potentially through the Summer and Fall months of next season.  We will be open during the Summer months (if deemed safe) and during other holiday breaks for make up classes to be used. We will make sure that many class options are available for all ages and levels and we will be flexible with the timing needed to use them.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY ACCOUNT IN APRIL?

We are currently going along with the CVUSD school closure, advice from local officials and of course the order from the Governor to “Shelter iIn Place” therefore Thrive will remain closed through the month of April and ALL 2019-20 ACTIVE ACCOUNTS WILL BE FROZEN UNTIL WE -REOPEN.  We fully recognize the seriousness and necessity of social distancing and staying home.  We are thinking about the health and safety of our local and global communities in this decision. Once we re-open all customers will be contacted prior to any future charges to your account.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW THAT THE STUDIO IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED?

While our physical studio will be closed, we are pleased to announce the opening of “Virtual Thrive” Online dance classes! Thrive’s Online Classes are being offered through ZOOM which is an online meeting platform that allows for live classes to take place remotely and for students to connect face to face with teachers.  Teachers and students can see each other, talk to one another and have the class experience together.  We want our kids moving, expressing themselves, working on their dance goals, and having fun!  Online dance classes will also offer a potential break for the dancers and parents from the monotony of being home from school and work for such an extended period of time. Classes started on Wednesday March 25th and it’s never too late to join!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF VIRTUAL CLASSES?
Online classes are a great way to see our children active, excited, mentally healthy, focused and positive during such a difficult time.  As dancers we are not just athletes that use our bodies, we are also artists that express ourselves through dance and we cannot imagine our dancers going several weeks without both dance training and expression.

In addition to dance classes we also know that Thrive is a community and in many cases a second home to our dancers. Their classmates and teachers are part of their world and we want our dancers to continue to do what they love with their classmates and teachers by their side. We weren’t sure if this connection could be accomplished from home with “Shelter In Place” however the more we thought about it the more we felt that this experience might be the most bonding experience our dancers and teachers have had thus far.

We definitely want everyone to make the choice that is right for their family.  However we would emphasize the following points when making this decision:

#1  We want to protect your investment in your dancers.  They have all worked very hard in classes this year and for some of them for many many years… continuing to dance is important for their development physically, mentally, spiritually, but also to maintain the skills, steps and knowledge that they have gained so far.

#2  Thrive Dance Center isn’t just a building, it’s Ahja, Jennifer, our staff and faculty and our family of dancers … we are fighting for our studio to remain the positive, inspiring place that it always has been.  We want and need our dancers to keep dancing.   We are still committed to providing top notch dance instruction and we are passionate about seeing our students and Thrive Community through this storm.  We are with you and we hope you will be with us.  Even though we are a large dance studio, we are a small business in the wake of a very large storm.

#3  Just like our regular classes, our Virtual Thrive Classes will be fun, challenging, inspiring and age appropriate.  We will be mindful that the students are taking classes in their homes.  We will also be considerate of this time in their lives.  We will work extra hard to ensure that we are a shining light and source of positivity through dance.

#4  Through our Thrive Village, we offer a platform to share videos from online classes so that the students will still be able to support each other, be inspired by each other and enjoy each other as we express ourselves.

HOW DO VIRTUAL CLASSES WORK?

WHAT IS THE THRIVE VILLAGE?

Staying inspired & uplifted is so important right now as we practice being Safer At Home. To help our dancers and their families stay connected we've created the Thrive Village. A place where we can be apart, together.

There are activities posted to keep the entire family going in Mind, Body and Spirit. From dance challenges, bonus classes, dance history, games and inspiration to free tutorials, check-ins from teachers and live visits from the Thrive Owners, Ms. Ahja & Ms. Jennifer, it's all happening right now in the Village!

We already have over 250 families participating in the community and if you haven't joined us already we would love to see you there!

THANK YOU

We, the owners, Jennifer & Ahja, began Thrive Dance Center 9 years ago with 35 students who walked through the doors in a small temporary facility.  We have worked very hard over the past 9 years to build something that we are extremely proud of.  We love what we do with every fiber of our being.  Our hearts are hurting now, but we can feel your support and we have faith and hope that we can weather this storm and rebuild on the other side.  We can feel you there for us and it means the world right now.

We hope to see you on the Band App in the Thrive Village.  We are excited to begin Virtual Thrive Online Classes and as always we thank you for your love, trust, and support.

Take care of each other.

Be patient and kind.  Stay positive. Keep dancing.  We are in this together!
